Nostalgia Series, 2019-2022
In Nostalgia Series, I investigate identity and territory in the process of rebuilding communities through inclusion and migration. To create this series about memory, reverie and emptiness, I have selected those photographs in-between art and documentary, combining digital images with a 1959 Leica camera.
As a filmmaker, I believe that the atmosphere in the project refers to the work of moving image creators such as Andrei Tarkovski. However, in the photographic series I have also investigated nebulosity not only as an atmospheric element but also as a poetic element that is sometimes, paradoxically, invisible to the eye of the beholder. Resulting rather an evocative suggestion of all those sensations that individually and culturally we associate with fog: loneliness, cold, loss, mysticism…
